Ccelebrates art and sculpture from local artists and guest artists, vintage machinery display, art talks and other art events over the weekend in the town of Portumna, Co. Galway

Now in its 39th year, this is the longest running community arts festival in Ireland including superb literary, musical and visual art content from creative writing, music and theatre to graphic design and film workshops.

Fri 15th September 2017 - "Sparkle at the g" fashion show

‘Sparkle at the g’ is a fabulous night out for friends and colleagues. Enjoy bubbles on arrival at 7pm with the fantastic Odyssey Band followed by a fashion extravaganza filled with exquisite style and glorious glamour. All proceeds in aid of ‘Tomorrow For Tomás’ which raises funds for 7 year old Tomás McLoughlin who has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.  Born at just 26 weeks, Tomás survived his twin Sean who passed away just 30 days later. He is a wonderfully bright, chatty boy with a huge love of Irish Country music. Tomás has no independent movement and will require life-long support with very costly equipment. All support for this fun loving boy is greatly appreciated and tickets are just €30 per person.

Fri 22nd September 2017 - Galway Culture Night

An annual evening event that provides free access to museums, galleries, theatres and public buildings from 5pm until 11pm. The programme includes tours, exhibitions, readings, performances and films. Drama and poetry, music and dance, workshops and lectures, all free of charge.

22nd - 24th September 2017 (TBC) - Burren Peaks Walking Festival

Enjoy a choice of Grade A, B & C Guided walks taking in this wonderfully rich limestone pavement...the land of the fertile rock with its precious and delicate terrain.

Sun 24th - Fri 29th September 2017 (TBC) - National Hot Air Balloon Championships

Galway is set to host National Hot Air Balloon Championships. The 40 competing teams will come from all over the world – including USA, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Italy, France and Spain – and plans are advanced for the mass launch of all balloons, night glow and schools visits. Loughrea will be the base.

Fri 22nd  - Sun 24th September 2017 - Galway International Oyster Festival

The world's longest running Oyster Festival - A feast of live entertainment, gourmet food, fine wine and of course Oysters and Guinness are enjoyed by some 10,000 people with guests and luminaries from all over the world.
