Tues 2nd October 2018 - Lunchtime at The Library

Always on the first Tuesday of each month at 1.10pm in St Nicholas Collegiate Church in the centre of Galway city - classical music from the Galway Ensemble in Residence, ConTempo Quartet string quartet.

Fri 4th - Sun 7th October 2018 - Clarenbridge Oyster Festival

Great food, great Guinness, great music and entertainment all in a splendid marquee on the banks of the Claren River which flows through the village of Clarenbridge on the edge of Galway Bay.

Sat 6th October 2018 - Galway Bay Half Marathon & 10K

Participants can choose from a half marathon (13.1 miles) or a 10k run/walk along a fast, flat, fun and scenic route which starts and finishes along Galway’s famous coast line on the edge of the city and the Bay.

Fri 4th - Sun 7th October 2018 - Galway Jazz Festival

Shows will be held in An Taibhdhearc, Druid Theatre, The Black Cat in Salthill, the Hotel Meyrick, Electric as well as public spaces around the city.

Mon 22nd & Tues 23rd October 2018 - Food on the Edge

Food on the Edge is a two day symposium for chefs & food enthusiasts from all around the world. It is a coming together of chefs to listen, talk, debate and network over two days in Galway. Open to the public by advance ticket purchase.

Mon 15th - Sun 21st October 2018 Baboró International Arts Festival for Children

The premier international arts festival for children and families, in Ireland. Taking place over 7 days with Theatre, Dance, Literature, Music, Puppetry, Workshops and Visual Art for all ages.

From Dylan Moran to secret acts with the Comedy Club Crawl and lots in between, this growing festival is a great reason to visit Galway in October.


Sun 21st - Mon 29th October 2018 - Conamara Sea Week

Takes place in the the village of Letterfrack which is the focal point of the festival at the base of Diamond Hill in Connemara National Park. Letterfrack is next to Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Gardens. The festival celebrates local Connemara marine heritage along with music and family activities.

28th October 2018 - Halloween Bonfire & Storytelling at Brigits Garden

A family Halloween evening with fancy dress, ghostly games, wonderful storytelling and a special Halloween bonfire with the Púca. Suitable for all ages.
