Tues 2nd May 2017 - Lunchtime Classical  Music Recital

Taking place at 1.10pm in St. Nicholas' Church off the main pedestrian street of Galway, the Lunchtime recital is a popular and long-standing event which features The Galway Ensemble in Residence, ConTempo Quartet.

1st - 31st May 2017 - Bealtaine Festival

Celebrating creativity in older age. Thousands of older people now take part in the Bealtaine festival. From dance to cinema, painting to theatre, Bealtaine showcases the talents and creativity of both first-time and professional older artists.

28th April - 1st May 2017 - Connemara Mussel Festival

A celebration of local mussels takes place on the glorious Renvyle Peninsula in North Connemara. Eat your fill, enjoy the music, and bring the family.

Sat 6th May 2017 - Gaelforce Connemara Adventure Challenge

32.5km stand-alone sprint race through the magnificent scenery around Killary Harbour in Connemara, Co Galway. This race involves trail running, cycling and kayaking.

19th - 21st May 2017 - Galway Early Music Festival 

Celebrating its 22nd birthday in 2017 with old world music and arts and features concerts, workshops, street performances of music, dance and historical re-enactment.

19th -21st May 2017 - Galway County Fleadh

Features a variety of traditional Irish music sessions competitions and dancing events.

Late May 2017 - Claddagh Hooker Regatta (Galway City)

Regatta displaying unique Irish boats, such as currachs and Galway Hookers including the Bád Mór, Gleoiteog, Leathbhád and Púcán classes of boat traditionally used throughout Galway Bay, along the coast of Connemara and North Clare.

Sat 27th May 2017 - Tour de Conamara

This is the Irish leg of a new international cycling event held in Clifden Connemara, with the option of 140km and 80km routes. A 14km Family cycle with free cycling tuition for kids will be hosted during the weekend making it a cycling weekend with something for everyone.

26th May - 4th June 2017 - Conamara Bog Week

The annual Conamara Bog Week 2016 festival takes place in the Quaker village of Letterfrack. This is the 32nd year of the festival and the organisers Conamara Environmental Education and Cultural Centre are promising an exciting line up as usual.

3rd & 4th June 2017 - Salthill National Five Asides

The ‘Carlsberg Salthill National Fives’ annual tournament, now in its 41st year has become a highly anticipated date in Galway’s soccer calendar and sees a great mix of Galway natives, visitors and friends gather to enjoy this great footballing festival. 

11th - 18th June 2017 - The Galway Sessions       

Date TBC - The Galway Sessions Festival returns celebrating Irish folk and traditional music and the music Irish emigrants brought with them across the world. As in previous years, the festival’s Scottish connection will be retained with an array of performers travelling from Galway’s cultural partner Stirling to take part. Events take place in the Town Hall Theastre and in pubs throughout the city with sessions planned in The Crane Bar, The King's Head, Tigh Choili’s, Taaffe’s Bar ,The Quays, Tigh Neachtains, and Monroe’s Tavern.

TBC June 2017 - Galway Rowing Regatta              

This year’s Galway Regatta will take place at the NUIG grounds at Dangan. Galway’s oldest rowing regatta, this year it celebrates its 133rd anniversary, and once again entries from all four provinces.

Sat 1st  & Sun 2nd July 2017 - Galway Garden Festival 

Held in the beautifully restored Claregalway Castle in mid July. Nursery suppliers from across Ireland will share a wealth of planting experience with all who browse the plant stalls’ extensive range of plants, trees, seeds, and shrubs. Garden equipment, from hoes to glasshouses to woven willow baskets.

11th - 16th July 2017 - Galway Film Fleadh

Film festival for feature films and shorts. 2016 marks the 28th Galway Film Fleadh, and the central goal of the festival remains unchanged: to bring together audiences and filmmakers within an intimate environment and share a common experience.

17th - 30th July 2017 - Galway Fringe Festival

Running in parallel with the Galway International Arts Festival, the Galway Fringe Festival aims to provide a platform for local artists, writers, playwrights, poets, actors and musicians to perform and showcase new work.

From awe-inspiring visual arts to tantalising theatre, giant puppets snaking through the medieval streets to late-night musical parties in the Big Top, this Galway festival is fabulous from start to finish.

30th July 2017 - Omey Races

Date TBC - The Omey Races take place annually on the strand at Omey Strand, Claddaghduff in Connemara. The annual summer races have been steadily attracting greater numbers every year for a wonderful day of sand, sea, possibly sun and of course, horse racing. With up to nine races on the card, there's opportunities for young, upcoming jockeys to hone their skills, while providing a great day out for spectators. The first race will be off at 1pm sharp.

31st July - 6th Aug 2017 - Galway Races Summer Festival Meeting

Ireland's premier horse racing festival. Adrenalin-pumping action, heart-stopping finishes and breath-taking fashion, you are at the Galway Races. Situated on the outskirts of Galway city, in the West of Ireland, the Galway Race Festivals are world renowned. The g Hotel & Spa is the official sponsor of the Ladies Day 'Best DRessed Lady' and 'Best Hat' competitions at the racecourse. Each evening, following the day of racing, the g Hotel also hosts a series of after parties with live music, jdelicious dining and kicking cocktails
