Located beside the g Hotel, EYE is amongst the most advanced cinemas in Ireland, with almost 1200 stadium planned seats across 9 screens, each with Dolby Digital EX full surround sound and Widescreen and Cinemascope picture. For those who want more than a seat at the cinema EYE has one luxury screen for those special moments or corporate clients. All screens are wheelchair accessible and each screen has an allotted amount of wheelchair space.

Galway City Museum

The Museum is a spacious, modern building, situated in the heart of Galway city on the banks of the River Corrib and overlooking the famous Spanish Arch. It houses a variety of permanent and touring exhibitions representing Galway's rich archaeology, heritage and history. OPEN: Tuesday to Saturday: 10am to 5pm. CLOSED: Sunday & Monday. (FREE)

Playgrounds

The nearest playgrounds to The g Hotel are across the road at the Huntsman and then beside The Claddagh Hall (FREE). You can also feed the swans at The Claddagh.

Galway City Library

Galway City Library has a wonderful children’s book section with toys and seats. They also run a number of family friendly events during the year. (FREE) Open Monday 2pm-5pm, Tuesday-Saturday 11am-5pm for families.

Promenade at Salthill

Galway's Salthill Promenade is the longest seaside promenade in Ireland. The flat, beautiful path runs south and west along the Bay of Galway. It is well-lain, well-marked, and full of history. The "Prom" is perfect for the traveler looking to get in a quick run before a full day's activities, for the long-distance runner looking to get some scenic miles under their legs, and even for the jogger or casual stroller who wants to take the time to take in the stories and beauty of the location.  The "Prom" is easy to reach from the center of town, or any part thereof. Just head to the water - the path can be picked up west of Wolfe Tone Bridge.

Galway Atlantaquarium

Ireland’s National Aquarium is home to the country’s largest display of marine and fresh water fish. The Aquarium is open 7 days a week for the Spring and Summer. They close some Mondays and Tuesdays from October to February for essential tank cleaning so it’s recommended you ring ahead if you’re visiting during these times so as not to be disappointed.  Children - €6.25, Adult - €10.25, Family (2 adults & 2 children) €29, Children Under 3: Free admission. OPENING HOURS: Monday-Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday-Sunday 10am-6pm

Leisureland is located in Salthill and currently has a range of family friendly activities and facilities. Corrib Princess Cruise on Lough Corrib

The Corrib Princess sails from Woodquay in the heart of Galway city. Bow Waves Sailing & Powerboat School

Bow Waves have designed a series of outdoor activity sessions that cater for large and smaller youth groups. They are fully insured and certified, and provide activity sessions for groups of all ages. They also have boats and RIBs to charter around Galway Bay.

Loughwell Farm Park

Loughwell Farm Park has many friendly animals including pot bellied pigs, miniature ponies, sheep, goats, chickens and many more. Visitors can get involved with the daily list of animal activities which include the supervised feeding of the goats and cuddling the rabbits. They also have over 12,000 square feet of indoor entertainment including  an indoor play structure, giant slide, indoor skittle lanes, an indoor construction area and an indoor didi car track.  Outdoors, you can practice a putt on the  mini golf course,  drive the go karts, race against each other on the obstacle course, play in the huge timber covered sand pit, take a ride on the pony and trap and of course go for a spin around the farm on the famous barrel train. Located in Moycullen, about 8km from Galway City, Loughwell Farm Park is currently open every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from 11.00 am to 5.30 pm

Turoe Pet Farm and Leisure Park – Loughrea

The Turoe Pet Farm and Leisure Park form a surround for the Turoe Stone, a rare National Monument dating back to the first or second century B.C. This granite rock, is believed to have been used as a ritual stone in its original setting at the nearby Rath of Feewore. The farm is mainly a drystock farm with over 150 cross bred ewes and over 50 cattle. A variety of domestic and rare birds and animals can be enjoyed on the trail, the duck pond has many breeds of duck and geese waiting to entertain the visitor. The Wishing Well is another special attraction. The sheep wash in the river running through the wooded area and there is a collection of old farm machinery.

Brigit's Gardens

Brigit's Garden takes you on a magical journey into the heart of Celtic heritage and mythology, making it one of the truly outstanding places to visit in the West of Ireland. The award-winning Celtic Gardens are widely regarded as one of the most spectacular in Ireland, set within 11 acres of native woodland & wildflower meadows. In addition to the Celtic Gardens visitors can enjoy the nature trail, an ancient ring fort (fairy fort), thatched roundhouse and crannog, and the calendar sundial, the largest in Ireland. Brigit’s Garden is very family-friendly with a kids’ discovery trail, a natural playground and lots of opportunity to explore. A wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. It is located off the main Galway – Clifden road (N59) about 20kms from Galway City.

Horse Riding

Located just six miles from Galway City centre, Rockmount Riding Centre has a large indoor arena where the novice can receive tuition as well as outdoor facilities where beginners can take part in trekking, while cross-country hacking is on offer for the more experienced rider. Rockmount was established in 1972 and is the longest established and largest indoor riding school in the west of Ireland. As founder members of AIRE (Association of Irish Riding Establishments), professionalism, safety and the highest standards of instruction are their priority. For private tuition try to book at least 24hrs in advance. Adults: Monday – Thursday, One Hour classes, 7pm and 8pm. €25 per person. Children: Monday – Friday, 4pm & 5pm, Saturday – All day from 11pm. €20 per child.

Pure Skill

Spanning over 25, 000 square foot, the Pure Skill facility offers you a wide selection of sports to enjoy indoors. The sports arena is split into two main sections, the Pure Skill Circuit and the Pure Skill Interactive Sports room. In the main Circuit area, you compete over a selection of 10 sports from around the world including Gaelic, Soccer, Hurling, Rugby, Tennis, Cricket, Baseball, Basketball, Golf Putting & Chipping. Using fully automated technology via your own swipe card, you can gear up for over an hour of non stop action! Upon arrival you receive your own scorecard so you can always aim to improve your skill the next time you visit Pure Skill.

Monkey Business

Indoor Adventure Centre for Kids - 3 stories of climbing frames, slides, ball ponds, bouncy castles and dedicated toddlers section. Full coffee shop onsite. Open Monday – Friday 11am-6pm and Saturday & Sunday 10am-6pm.

The Planet Bowling

Located at Galway Shopping Centre Headford Road. Bowling, Space Quest, Pool and Space Kids. Space Kids is an indoor dream for all kids. It is a children’s soft play area with slippery slides, rope bridges, pulleys and a huge ball pool to play in. They have a section for under 5’s also. Each visit lasts 60 minutes.
