College Placement / Internship Information

We welcome students from all colleges around the world ‐ coming to a new country, new hotel and making new friends is both exciting and a little daunting. So we have correlated some information which will help you.

1 - Placement Periods ‐ internships tend to be for a period of between 6 ‐ 12 months. In the main we are able to offer craft level positions and occasionally supervisory level to interns. Our most popular departments are Food & Beverage, Front Office, Accommodation and Kitchen.

2 - Travel ‐ a. Airports ‐ Galway Airport (approx. 5 km), Shannon International Airport (approx. 70 km) and Ireland West International Airport (approx. 70 km) which facilitate flights to Dublin, UK and beyond. b. Train ‐ www.irishrail.ie c. Bus ‐ www.buseireann.ie

3 - Accommodation ‐ The hotel doesn’t have accommodation available for employees however, we will provide accommodation for your first 3 nights in Galway while you find accommodation. To find accommodation log onto :http://www.advertiser.ie/galway/classifieds and search under ‘accommodation to rent’ Ideally, select the following areas in order nearest to the hotel: Wellpark (2 min walk); City Centre (15‐20 min walk); Renmore (20‐30 min walk); Ballybane (20‐30 min walk).

Preparation in advance of coming : We ask all interns to do some research into the hotel you have chosen to join (www.theg.ie) ‐ it is advantageous for you to know, in advance how many rooms we have, restaurant menus, facilities and services on offer etc.
